Munich, September 26, 2024 – On Thursday, October 10, 2024, EMC Home of Data invites you to a dialogue with Thomas Huber, member of the Bavarian State Parliament, to discuss the role of Bavarian tradition in digital development. The event is part of the series “City, State, Federal Government: Munich in Dialogue with the Digital Future,” which discusses Munich's role in digitization at the municipal, regional, and national levels. The backdrop is the opening of the new data hub for Munich, MuCon-X.
Registration via German Mittelstand
How can Bavaria preserve its traditions while driving forward digital transformation? This key question will be discussed in the second part of the event series “City, State, Federal Government: Munich in Dialogue with the Digital Future,” hosted by EMC Home of Data and German Mittelstand e.V. on October 10, 2024 (5:30 p.m.).
After a successful start with Clemens Baumgärtner, Minister of Labor and Economic Development and mayoral candidate for the city of Munich, in which the relevance of the city as a digital metropolis was discussed, the focus is now shifting to the state level.
Under the motto “The purity law of the digital future: Bavarian tradition & digital responsibility,” Thomas Huber, spokesperson for labor and social policy for the CSU faction in the Bavarian state parliament, will discuss how Bavaria is mastering the balancing act between tradition and innovation. The event will take place on the campus of EMC Home of Data in Munich, where the new MuCon-X Internet node will also be presented.
Responsibility for digital transformation in Bavaria
At a time when data is becoming a crucial resource, data center operators are asking themselves: How can economic progress and social values be reconciled? The new MuCon-X internet node will not only strengthen Munich's role as a digital hub, but also raise questions that go beyond technology. How can we shape a digital future that is based on regional values while also driving technological progress?
The event provides a forum for precisely this discussion. Bavaria's “Purity Law for the Digital Future” symbolizes the attempt to use regional traditions as a model for responsible digital innovation.
Digital infrastructure with social responsibility
MuCon-X is set to become a central component of the digital infrastructure of the Munich metropolitan region as a new regional data node. The new cloud and connectivity hub will connect the regional economy by ensuring secure, fast, and stable access to the digital world. The focus is on issues of data security, sovereignty, and local control to ensure that digitization is not only economically but also socially sustainable.
The event offers media representatives the opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the thinking and operation of this central hub, while also providing socio-political discussions that will play a crucial role in the coming years.
Invitation to join the discussion and network
EMC Home of Data invites journalists and interested parties to actively participate in the discussions and examine the issues surrounding the digital future. How can political frameworks be established to promote technological development without neglecting traditional values? What responsibility does Bavaria bear in shaping the digital future for Germany and Europe?
These and other questions will be discussed in a panel discussion with Thomas Huber and other experts, followed by an open exchange that will provide space for in-depth discussions.
