What 2025 will bring – Merry Christmas and a connected New Year!

2024 was marked by bold first steps that led us down new paths. In doing so, we ourselves opened up new avenues to lay the foundations for a connected and successful future. Now we look forward with excitement to 2025, the year in which our paths will prove their full viability.

We are now particularly looking forward to the upcoming turn of the year, because one thing is clear: the foundations have been laid—and we will be able to celebrate this with you for the first time on February 26!

How 2024 laid the foundation for 2025

Under construction—nothing better describes the past year at EMC Home of Data. We have tackled several projects of considerable size this year. These projects have brought about visible changes to the data center campus. But they also form a strong foundation for our connected future. A future that begins in 2025.

Digitalhub Bayern has introduced itself: Networking as a model for the future of the Chiemsee region

At the kick-off event in September 2024, we had the opportunity to introduce ourselves and our partners—BitPoint, artcodix, and komro—as Digitalhub Bayern for the Chiemsee region for the first time. With customized IT services such as secure data centers and GDPR-compliant cloud solutions, we enable every company in the region to implement their IT strategies locally.

Supported by a strong network from Rosenheim and Munich, we are building a broad portfolio of IT expertise that is specifically tailored to the needs of medium-sized companies.

“We promote digitalization in the region. From Bavaria, for Bavaria.” This is the idea behind Digitalhub Bayern, and we will be pushing ahead with it in 2025.

The new Rosenheim data center: We are switching from test operation to live operation

Thanks to its direct connection to the data center campus in Munich, the new EMC Home of Data data center in Rosenheim provides an ideal foundation for primary and backup requirements and efficiently connects the Alpine region with the rest of the world.

Following the successful start of test operations in 2024, live operations are now scheduled to begin in 2025 (Q2), which will further advance digital networking in the region.

MUC II expansion: We are opening up capacity for tomorrow

But EMC Home of Data's offerings have expanded beyond Rosenheim. Last year, work also began on expanding the main data center space in the new construction phase (MUC II). What sounds simple is actually a complex undertaking, because this time, it is far more than just developing new space.

In 2025, we will be able to present our new state-of-the-art, autonomously operated campus area, which will be built in accordance with the strict criteria of DIN EN 50600 and will explore all structural possibilities to enable operation with the highest safety and efficiency standards. MUC II not only includes an independent power supply, air conditioning, and connectivity, but also its own fire protection and access areas. In addition, MUC II is pursuing an innovative concept for the long-term use of the waste heat generated. This means that the necessary foundation has already been laid should it become possible to feed into the municipal district heating network in the future.

With our eyes firmly on the future, the new space of around 2,500 square meters has not only created room for our customers, but also for greater connectivity from Munich...

February 2025: the grand opening ceremony of MuCon-X

The reason we are so excited about the turn of the year: In February, we will pave the way for Munich's digital future when we finally open the new cloud and connectivity hub in the newly expanded data center area of MUC II.

Under the motto “Connected to you,” MuCon-X creates a central platform for fast, secure, and reliable digital connections in the DACH region. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, low latency, and access to strong platform partners such as DE-CIX and Megaport, MuCon-X offers companies a new basis for their digital transformation. MuCon-X is owned by EMC Home of Data and operated under German jurisdiction, which above all means legal compliance and location security for our customers.
