Through technical optimizations and sustainable management, we strive to keep our footprint as small as possible at all times. But we can do even more.
With Racks4Roots, we start where further optimizations of our own footprint are no longer possible—for a strong partnership between ecology and economy.
Together, we give back to nature every year some of what we take from it. In this way, we bring our companies into harmony with nature.
The Racks4Roots trees can already be pre-reserved for 2025.

Every rack. One tree. Every year.
Racks4Roots was launched in 2021 as part of our EMC Take Care CSR program with a clear mission: we want to give something back to the environment.
That's why we support Racks4Roots every year with a tree for every server rack our customers operate at Campus MUC I. These are the “campus rack trees” that give the project its name.

About the German Forest Protection Association (SDW)
Racks4Roots was developed in close cooperation with the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald (SDW), a legally recognized nature conservation association founded in 1947 and considered Germany's oldest forest conservation initiative. Today, SDW has 25,000 members who work every year to ensure that numerous forest and nature conservation projects can be established, grow, and thrive.
Strict ecological criteria are applied when selecting trees, with particular attention being paid to biodiversity. This results in climate-stable mixed forests that not only withstand external influences but also preserve the habitat for a wide variety of plant and animal species.
“Storms and heavy rain have caused clearly visible damage to mountain forests in parts of the Alps. We need to act quickly here and introduce tree species that can fill these gaps and stabilize the forest.
Only through private-sector involvement will we be able to rebuild the forest in Bavaria so that it is fit and resilient.”
